Jehovah Jireh, God Is My Provider

By Jennifer Hutchins

2024 started less than normal for us. With two precious grandbabies, our kids living on the farm
next to us and the anticipation of new baby goats that were soon to be born. Did I mention that
we had added teenagers to the chaos as well? Lots of things were happening on the farm and
in our family.
God had blessed us as we experienced first hand Our Jehovah Jireh ( Our Provider). It’s been
a couple of years since Allen has had a full time job outside of the farm. This would be the only
time in 31 years of marriage that he hasn’t gotten up every morning to work 10 hour days.
Financially it’s been quite the task to keep everything a float but God is so good to us as we
have never gone hungry or without things we’ve needed. Through this recent journey we’ve
been praying and waiting to hear what the Lord has for Allen.
During this new journey in our home we have also shared our home with three teenage girls. In
our empty nest years we’ve forgotten how tiring raising teen girls can be. The youngest was just
for a short time as she was able to move back home. The middle one was with us for 14
months and the oldest is still with us and will graduate from High School in the spring. We are
living proof that God’s plans are not the same as ours.
We don’t know what tomorrow holds but one thing is for sure as grandparents and parents Allen
and I not only want to make sure our kids know who Jesus is but we want them to Love Him like
He loves us and to serve Him in their homes and lives. If we can get that one thing right God will
take care of everything else.
Habakkuk 3: 17-19
Though the fig tree does not bud and there is no fruit on the vines, though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food, though the flocks disappear from the pen and there are no herds
in the stalls, yet I will celebrate in the Lord: I will rejoice in the God of my salvation! The Lord my
Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like those of a deer and enables me to walk on mountain
heights!
If there isn’t food or a job or money and our worst fears come true we would still have the Lord,
and that is enough. It’s going to be okay because we have a safe place to run to and He is a
refuge in times of troubles.
“The Lord, My Lord is My Strength”
.
And the Lord won’t leave us. Whatever we face we can look to Jesus knowing He has walked
this path before and overcome the enemy as He gave His life to take our place. We can rejoice
in knowing who He is.
Today we choose Joy, today we choose Jesus!
