In the past couple of weeks we have had 8 new baby goats born. I can’t even write in
words the Joy that this brings to our small little country farm. One sweet little boy fought
for his life yesterday as his momma pushed him away. My girls jumped in and dropped
milk into his mouth until he slowly regained life. There were a few tears as they fought
hard for him. A good lesson that death is a part of living and on the farm it’s more common.
A great reminder for us during a tough day is that happiness may come from your circumstances but true Joy comes from the Lord.
There are 2 chapters in the Bible that help us understand this. In Galatians chapter 5 Joy is named as one of the fruits of the Spirit. And in Nehemiah chapter 8 we are told that the Joy of the Lord is our strength. Living on the farm brings this scripture to life for my family.
This year as we may face some hard times such as death and make hard decisions with our family
we will remember that true Joy comes from a relationship with our Lord.
As I sit on the porch right in front of me God has painted the most beautiful picture in His sunset. I look across the fields our animals are grazing there is a sweet family of deer playing in the field and I’m filled with Pure Joy.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things. Galatians5: 22-23
Do not grieve, because the joy of the LORD is your strength. Nehemiah 8:10b
